Nunchaku is the main arm of karate. Wield of them connects with karate system. Careful analysis of canonical and ritual motions in karate shows that this system submits to three principles. They are the principle of unconsciousness, the principle of forestalling and the principle of “not act”. Observance of these principles is the indispensable condition for development of high mastership. The first principle aims a person to perceive reality but do not realize its details. According it an opponent is not an abstract figure who only strikes blows. He is a usual person who has his advantages and disadvantages, his psychology. To look at an opponent means to weaken your position wittingly. It is necessary to merge with your opponent at united system of personal contact. It provides to sense his inner emotional experiences. Tutors advise:” If you look in opponents’ eyes you can see everything”. But they emphasize that to look simply is not enough. It may possible only in case when your Ego can be part of opponent’s inner world. |

Busido (way of warrior) means death. It directs to fight desperately and to death. According it if there are two ways at choice, you must choose the way which led to death. Do not discuss! To direct your thoughts at the chosen way and to start! But the question “Why need I die if it is not advantageous?” suggested itself. Only egoistical person discuss like this. When you must make your choice, do not think about advantage. It is naturally people prefer life to dead. But you should think about dishonor if you seek to advantage but m make a mistake. When you do not seek your aims and pay off your life it means your life is aimless. But your death does not injure your dignity. The death does not disgrace. Every morning you must think about means of death. Every evening you must refresh your memory about death. You must bring up your reason. |

It is considered that nunchaku come from Okinava. To date this archipelago is a part of Japan. Here people do not speak Japanese. Therefore “nunchaku” is not a Japanese word. This word is written as “nu-n-cha-ku” in katakan (syllabic alphabet to write foreign words) or by use of two Chinese hieroglyphs “double club”.
It is considered nunchaku is leaved with Chinese at Okinava.
It is unknown exact provenance of nunchaku. There are several versions about it. I arrange them by degrees of spreading and of verisimilitude. |
